Athlete, Surrender Your Plans

"Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit' yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.  Instead you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.' As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin." James 4:13-17

We don't know what the next year will look like for us, let alone the next hour. We think we know, but one moment can change everything. James reminds us that life is fast/short and not to boast about tomorrow as if we controlled all of the variables in our life.

But his conclusion is not that we shouldn't make plans at all. Instead we need to hold our plans loosely. Trusting that God has a plan/will for our days and our moments. Let's listen to God's voice leading us step by step and follow His plan for everything that we do. James concludes that we should do the right things that we know we should being doing.

So go ahead and makes plans. Make plans to do good things with your sport and with every area of your life. Do things that will impact others for God’s glory this week. Surrender your plans to Him all day every day and watch what He does through your life.
