Athlete, Do Not Forget

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful." Colossians 3:15

In his letter to the church at Colossae, Paul encourages the believers to "let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts." The verb "let" implies that the peace offered by Christ wants to do something. If I told you to "let me play the game with you", it implies that I want to play.

The point is this: the peace offered by Christ WANTS to rule in or hearts. He wants to bring contentment and joy and perspective. He wants to be the answer to the anxiety and unrest you are experiencing.

Will you let him?

But wait, Paul is not finished. You can picture him writing the letter to his friends and he wants to make sure they remember something very important. Oh yeah, and don't forget, be thankful.

Athlete, heed Paul's advice to the church at Colossae and don't forget to be thankful.

Consider this prayer today on Thanksgiving: "God, thank you for everything you have done in my life. Thank you for Jesus. For his life, death and resurrection. Thank you for the blessing of this life. Would you allow your peace to rule in my heart today?"
