Athlete, Use Your Phone

"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:6-9

In the digital chapel last night we referenced Deuteronomy 6:6. We talked about how worship needs to be connected to everything going on outside of us and inside of us. Worship is not just an outward action, but an inward posture of focus.

In an effort to remember to keep God at the center of their lives, Moses (the guy who wrote Deuteronomy), instructs the Israelites to be intentional about putting visual reminders all around them. Put reminders on your hand, on your forehead, on your doorposts and on your gates. Wherever you go, take notice and be reminded of who God is and how he calls us to live.

Now, you could write all over your body. but think about this: The Israelites didn't have an iPhone. You do. Or an android. What would it look like today for you to leverage your phone as a weapon to help you fight the spiritual battle of worship that you fight everyday? Here's a tip: set your phone alarm to go off (on vibrate if you're in class!) at the top of every hour. When the alarm goes off, say this quick prayer: "God thank you for who you are, help me to see how you're working in and around me today. You deserve all the glory!"

Athlete, use your phone to help you worship God today!
