Athlete, Prayer Is Worship

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6,7

Athlete, you have a lot going on. Not just with your sport, but also with everything else that life is throwing at you. In the midst of this, anxiety may be knocking at your door. Do you know that God actually commands us not to worry? It sure sounds like that is what He is saying in Philippians 4:6. Do not be anxious about anything. Your sport would fall under the category of "anything."

What's great about the Bible is that it often gives us a way out. How?

"BUT in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ."

God wants you to fight anxiety with prayer. He wants to give you peace. His peace. Do you desire that? Stop worrying and start asking for it. And here's the crazy thing. When we ask God for help in this area, or any area of our lives, we are worshipping him. The heart of prayer and worship share a similar beat: you are God, I am not.

Find a way to get into the rhythm of that beat today by taking time to acknowledge what you are worrying about and giving it to God.
